In the year 1993 Dr Vinayak Kulkarni ventured into the field of Medical laboratory science with an aim to provide quality and affordable pathology services for the common man. Thus Om Pathology laboratory was established on 28 April 1993 in the centre of cultural and progressive Pune city at Sadashiv Peth, off Lal Bahadur Shastri road, which soon gained a name for reliable pathology services in the peth areas and Sinhagad road.
The venture which started as team small team of a pathologists and microbiologist, got a new impetus when Dr Manoj Samant , a microbiologist joined the team in 2014, to start a separate and dedicated microbiology , a first in the city. In 2017 Dr Sudhir Kamble a meticulous histopathologist , joined the lab and a referral centre for histopathology services was established to cater to customers from places as far as Nashik , Malegaon, and Goa .
The journey which started 30 years ago is now taken a flight by the joining of new generation of Pathology professional like Dr Pradnya Kale. Now Om Laboratory has started newer advanced test like advance Andrology testing (CASA) with sperm function tests(DNA Fragmentation), Liquid Pap testing (LBC) for cervical cancer detection and Immunohistochemistry for better and reliable diagnosis of other cancers in tissue. Today there is team of 6 doctors who look after and personally supervise the work at all times.
The Om Institute of Pathology and Microbiology now has a association with social organisations which has resulted in 3000 free Health checkups for the deprived and needy sections of the society like, house hold workers, rickshaw drivers, Senior citizens , private security staff and other daily wage workers and small job holders .
Having served the city of Pune , surrounding talukas and districts for last 30 years the name Om Pathology Laboratory is now synonymous to reliable Pathology services in and around Pune. A team of 80 staff members, consisting of 35 well trained and qualified laboratory personal and 30 other staff Members, guided by a group of Pathology and Microbiology professionals, endeavour continuously to give dedicated services and achieve highest customer satisfaction score.
Today after catering to 2.5 million customers for the last 30 years, Om Pathology Laboratory is growing continuously in tune with the Pune’s economic growth while catering to all the sections of the society. The motto of the team is reliable, fast, affordable diagnostic services .
